At first glance of the photo above, one might think “Here we go another Asian kid tryin to rap”. But once you hit play, all ignorant prejudgements are washed away by the sound of talent, determination, and intelligence.
Meet Mike B. the latest addition to the city of Los Angeles’ ever growing, diverse rap scene. The K-Town native proves bar by bar that our generations Hip Hop scene has nothing to do with the color of your skin but the drive behind your lyrics. In every verse spit by Mike B. you can hear his life stories delivered over electronic beats mixed with soul jazz.
Mike B.’s unique sound can be heard on his latest album “Dear Michael, You’re Welcome” which follows up his previous project “Better Late Than Never“. For this album, released on 12.12.12, Mike B. teams up with local producer and close friend Matt Merisola (aka LoDef) to help shine light on his smooth melodic flow . When asked about his vision for himself in the future he said:
“I want to be seen as an artist and developing song writer, not just another Los Angeles underground rapper. I’m dreaming big, and those dreams are finally becoming a reality.”
