I’ve been single for just over two years now and I’ve lived in L.A. for four years. And being single in this city is, well, challenging.
I’ve heard every pick-up line possible. One guy at Supper Club claimed to be my ex-boyfriend in 5th grade at a L.A. elementary school. Nice try. Grew up in Santa Barbara. Another said his name was Ice, when I questioned the name, he whipped out his Black Card. That was all in one night.
The most difficult part of being single and enjoying the nightlife LA has to offer is dressing the part. And before I go on, let me just make a disclaimer that I am in no way trying to hate on females who want a man to take care of their every need. I am not one of those ladies. I am independent, not trying to be picked up every time I put on a pair of heels. You think being 6 feet tall in heels, 5’8 on a good day, is me telling you at that I’m like that?
Even though I won’t claim to be the Carrie Bradshaw of LA, I think there’s things all of us single ladies should consider when braving the cold pavement of Hollywood Boulevard . The number one accessory, besides your girlfriends, is your confidence. Let them call you a bitch. A bitch will eventually find the man who truly deserves her, not the one who thinks your boobs (real or fake) should be in his leased Benz.
There are a few tips when dressing for the occasion we need to remember.
1. If you decide to wear a short skirt, make sure the top isn’t skimpy too. Less is more.
2. Wear lipstick. It’ll make you less likely to do something you’ll regret the next day.
3. Memorized the Rejection Hotline if you just cant get rid of a loser. For LA its 310-217-7638 .
Good Luck to All The Single Ladies!
