Citizens of Los Angeles take note: at this present moment, our city is becoming arguably one of the best craft beer locations in America.
With new local breweries and taprooms opening their doors successfully in and around L.A. over the last few years, you can’t really miss one of these excellent bars for a pint of fresh hopiness. Living in SoCal has become something you can brag about to any craft beer enthusiast around the country, and if you live here in the City of Angels, there are numerous places to “check-in” at that’ll make any of those people jealous.
Here are a few that I think you should become accustomed with, in no particular order:
6124 Hollywood Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA,

Nestled comfortably under the wing of The Music Box in Hollywood, Blue Palms is where you go for twenty-four taps of pure craft beer enjoyment. Believe me, Blue Palms NEVER puts a bad beer on tap, and some of these beers are incredibly hard to find anywhere else. Their food is stellar; the Liars Fuego Steak Melt was recently featured on the Food Network. They also host several great craft beer events throughout the year. Follow their Twitter or Facebook feed for the latest info. You’ll be happy you did. — bluepalmsbrewhouse.com

To view the menu of craft beers at Mohawk Bend is similar to looking at the all star cast of actors starring in those “New Years Eve” or “Valentine’s Day” movies: big names, one place. However, the beers here cost less than even a small popcorn at a movie theater. Mohawk has a great menu for food, which has options for vegans as well. Also, most of the beers on the list are California brewed, and unlike those big holiday-themed movies, there’s no sign of Ashton Kutcher anywhere.
3056 Roswell Street
Los Angeles, CA

This is the local brewery to watch; Eagle Rock is hitting big marks already with their ales that are impressively hard to find…because they’re so damn good. They also have classes to teach you all about beer styles and characteristics. Got a lady who isn’t sure if she likes beer yet? Well, they even have a special beer forum dedicated strictly for the Ladies every month, to taste and explore how awesome craft beer really is. That’s right L.A., Eagle Rock is looking out for everyone. —eaglerockbrewery.com
2911 Main Street,
Santa Monica, CA

What better place to learn about beer than in a Library…Ale House, that is, in Santa Monica. If you’re not sure what to try first, talk to the person next to you at the bar or to one of the very educated bartenders for a recommendation. I mean, it’s a “library” after all, and they’re there to help you find the right book—er, I mean beer, right? Don’t forget to bring your I.D. to “check out” what they have in stock. I think it’s a good pun.
…and worth mentioning:
The Surly Goat in West Hollywood
Beer Belly A Craft Beer Bar in Koreatown
Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank
Stout in Hollywood
Golden Road Brewing in Atwater Village
And because we craft beer lovers in Hollywood are so friendly, several craft beer bars themselves have been teaming up to create a powerhouse craft beer event, LA Collaboration. A “block party” type event hosted by four tap houses in L.A. that brings out the stars of Cali brewing to wet your whistle with award-winning beers. There are also plenty of craft beer events ongoing at these craft beer bars here in L.A., just stay connected to their updates on Twitter or Facebook or even their websites. Cheers!
